At the request of Richard Patton’s lawyer and prosecutors, Judge William Alexander also ordered that Patton undergo outpatient mental health treatment in hopes of making him well enough so he can be prosecuted. The judge’s ruling followed an evaluation by an expert who found that Patton was mental ly incom Pet ent. To be considered legally com Pet ent to proceed, people accused of crimes must be deemed able to understand proceedings and help in their own defense by being able to communicate with their lawyers. UPDATE: Lauren Boebert narrowly wins reelection in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District after Adam Frisch concedes. >> Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert was leading Democrat Adam Frisch, a former Aspen city councilman, by 551 votes on Friday morning, with elections officials in just one of the 27 counties in the 3rd Congressional District with ballots still left to count. Elections officials in Republican-leaning Otero County said they had about 150 ballots to tabulate on Friday and that it expected to be done with the process by early to mid afternoon. Counties have until the end of Friday to finish counting election 2022 ballots. The 3rd District race between Boebert and Frisch is headed for a mandatory recount. Even if all 150 ballots left to count in Otero County are in Boebert’s favor, the race would still be within the recount margin. All but one GOP candidate for major statewide office outperformed Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District this year, according to a Colorado Sun analysis of 2022 election results. More money was spent per vote in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District than in any other federal race in the state this year.  Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Garfield County Republican, spent nearly $43 per vote in her re Election bid, while challenger Adam Frisch spent $32, according to a Colorado Sun analysis of federal campaign finance records from Oct. 20 through Nov. 28. That’s more than the $16 per vote Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet spent to win re Election over Republican Joe O’Dea, who spent $9 per vote. A mandatory recount is underway in the contest between Boebert, who received 163,842 votes, and Frisch, who got 163,292.
